Mohamed Amr Attawia, MD, is the Chief Executive Officer at CuraCell, LLC. Prior to his current position, Dr. Attawia was the Vice President of Product Development at Osteotech Inc., then the Vice President of Osteobiologics at Pipeline Orthopedics. He earned his medical degree at Cairo University College of Medicine in Egypt, and his master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Dr. Attawia spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at MIT-Harvard Division of Health Sciences and Technology before joining Allegheny University as an assistant professor and Deputy Director of the Center of Advanced Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. Later, he was appointed as an associate professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Drexel University. Dr. Attawia joined Depuy Spine, Johnson & Johnson several years ago and was heading the Disc Group. Dr. Attawia is also very active in the Muslim community in the U.S. Dr. Attawia previously served on the Islamic Relief USA Board of Directors for several years. He rejoined the IRUSA board in September 2009 and is currently serving as the chairman.
